About St. Bakhita Health Training Institute
St. Bakhita Health Institute is the faith based Institution that is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Sumbawanga.
St. Bakhita Health Training Institute started as St. Bakhita School of Nursing. St. Bakhita School of Nursing was fully registered on 7thSeptember 2014 by the National Council for Technical Education bearing a registration number of REG/HAS/066.The institute is autonomous not under the hospital.
The main purpose for the establishment was to complement Tanzanian government efforts in health care provision by training health professionals competent to work in the urban and rural health facilities.
The St Bakhita Health Training Team aimed at quality training of health professionals in health services.
Reasons for the establishment of the Institute
- Very poor quality of promotive, preventive and curative health services in different health facilities within the Region and Country
- Acute shortage of nurses,Clinicians and paramedical staff to provide high quality and cost effective care to individuals, families and the Community.
- Absence of a Nurses,Clinicians and other paramedical staff Training Centre for post Secondary graduates and those wishing to upgrade in nursing studies at the Regional.
- Shortage of funds for carrier develoment training
St. Bakhita Health Training Institute is located in Namanyere Town, Nkasi District-Rukwa, a walking distance of ½ Km from new bus stand adjacent to Namanyere Designated District Hospital (NDDH). Our core business is training, research and consultancy services. We train health professionals in the fields of Clinical Medicine, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing ,Pharmacy and Computer through our Certificate and Diploma. Our students include local and international/foreign students from all walks of life. We work in close partnership with the Namanyere Designated District Hospital (NDDH) and Nkomolo Dispensary in the training of our students and in offering services that address the challenges within the Nkasi district, thus contributing to the Health Sector in a purposeful and meaningful way.
