About Military College of Medical Sciences – Mwanza Campus
The Military College of Medical sciences (MCMS) is a military teaching college of health sciences. Currently MCMS runs two academic programmes namely Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Diploma in Nursing. MCMS also has a division of Military studies which teaches military medical trade courses for non-medical personnel and Military Medical Officers’ leadership and administration Course.
The College was established under Section 10 (2) of the National Defense Act, 1966 (Cap 192 R. E 2002) by the Minister for Defense and National Service Hon Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi (MP), on 8 December 2014. The College was renovated and equipped by the Federal Republic of Germany through the program for equipment support to developing countries. The College was handed over to the Minister of Defense and National Service Hon Dr Hussein Ali Hassan Mwinyi, (MP) on 29 September 2015 by His Excellence Egon Kochanke, the Germany Ambassador to Tanzania. The college enrolls both civilian and military students for the diploma and advanced diploma courses. The military studies are exclusively for military personnel only.
