About Huruma Institute of Health and Allied Sciences
Huruma Insititute of health and allied sciences is non-profit faith-based health training institution.It is owned by Cogregation of sisters of our Lady of Kilimanjaro.
Huruma Insititute of health and allied sciences started as Huruma School of Nursing on 1981 by Sr. Dr.Bernadina Allespach from Swizland, in cooperation with Sr. Cecilia Mbuya who was General Superior of Congregation of sisters of Our Lady of Kilimanjaro.First intake was 1983.
The level of education was standard seven.They graduate in 1987 in number of 25 students.
Thereafter the College was allowed by Ministry of Health to conduct Nursing training in Diploma level in 1992 for those students completed form four and form six.
In 2008 Ministry of Heath changed the duration of Diploma course from four years to three years.
In 2013 the College granted full accreditation by NACTE.The Accreditation number is S/N 1997 256
This granted enable the college to run different course of heath sciences.
- In 2015 academic year the college offer new course of Community Technician.
- This course has graduated 181 candidates to date
- The students graduated for certificate from 1987 to 1995=296
- The students graduated for diploma four years program from 1996-2011=497
- The graduate for the three years to date is 487.
