About City College of Health and Allied Sciences – Arusha Campus
The City College of Health and Allied Sciences is a higher learning Institution in Tanzania which was established and granted accreditation number REG/HAS/139 by the NACTE act, cap 129 read together with regulation 3 of NACTE(Registration of the Technical Institutions Regulations, 2001)(GN NO 279).
The Institute was established in order to prepare qualified human resource for Health in order to strengthening the health and social service delivery structure in Tanzania. It started operating in 2013 in rented buildings at Tandika Mahunda Street Dar es Salaam before moving to the present premises at Mikwambe Temeke, Dar es Salaam in 2017. The first programs was the Dispensing Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences which was designed for addressing the problem of dispenserl manpower shortage that was facing the Pharmacy industry especially community pharmacy in Tanzania. In 2014, the Institute began offering Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This was necessitated by the need to meet health professional training and educational standards.
In order to respond to the national need of having qualified medical laboratory, the Institute introduced ordinary Diploma course in Medical Laboratory sciences Studies in 2019
The most recent development was the introduction of new campus at Kigamboni (known as KICCoHAS, established 2016, DODOMA CAMPUS known as CCOHAS DODOMA CAMPUS established in 2019 and CCOHAS ILALA CAMPUS established 2020
Further development was marked in 2021 when the Institute established a state of the art Campus located at Mwanza, Kisesa known as Mwanza City College of Health and allied Sciences (MCCoHAS) which granted a full registration number REG/HAS/232 by the NACTE act, cap 129 read together with regulation 3 of NACTE(Registration of the Technical Institutions Regulations, 2001)(GN NO 279).
Moreover, the MCCoHAS CAMPUS will be offering training in Clinical Medicine, Pharmaceutical sciences and Social work programmes at Certificate and Diploma levels (NTA Level 4 and 5)
All training programs offered by the Institute are competency based, aimed at equipping trainees with requisite professional knowledge, skills and competence in their areas of specialization. They also focus on demands of the larger community which is key stakeholder and macro target for service offered by our graduates
