Health Training Institute is the Health institute owned by Bishop Of Catholic Diocese of Geita, Mwanza Tanzania since 1971.

The institute is proud of its history of serving the community and the nation in terms of education, service and research. Through creactivity, innovation, passion and clear vision, the Sengerema Health Training Institute strives to build on these past successes and develop even greater strength in the future.

The Sengerema Health Training Institute (SHTI) was formed to training programmes in the fields related to health and allied sciences. Currently the institute is offering four programmes namely Clinical Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Social Work, Nursing and Midwives training institute. The SHTI is the new name after the Catholic Diocese of Geita as owner decided to merge its health training institutions formerly known as Sengerema Clinical Officers Training Institute and Sengerema Nursing School to one institution. Under the SHTI’s the former institutions are turn to be called departments. The Sengerema Health Training Institute was registered by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) to offer health training programmes from Basic Technician Level (NTA level 4) to Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6).

The college was registered under the new registration system by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE-established by the Act No. 9 of 1997) having satisfied the requirements for Full Registration as a Technical Education and Training Institution.

The City College of Health and Allied Sciences is a higher learning Institution in Tanzania which was established and granted accreditation number REG/HAS/139 by the NACTE act, cap 129 read together with regulation 3 of NACTE(Registration of the Technical Institutions Regulations, 2001)(GN NO 279).

The Institute was established in order to prepare qualified human resource for Health in order to strengthening the health and social service delivery structure in Tanzania. It started operating in 2013 in rented buildings at Tandika Mahunda Street Dar es Salaam before moving to the present premises at Mikwambe Temeke, Dar es Salaam in 2017. The first programs was the Dispensing Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences which was designed for addressing the problem of dispenserl manpower shortage that was facing the Pharmacy industry especially community pharmacy in Tanzania. In 2014, the Institute began offering Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This was necessitated by the need to meet health professional training and educational standards.

In order to respond to the national need of having qualified medical laboratory, the Institute introduced ordinary Diploma course in Medical Laboratory sciences Studies in 2019

The most recent development was the introduction of new campus at Kigamboni (known as KICCoHAS, established 2016, DODOMA CAMPUS known as CCOHAS DODOMA CAMPUS established in 2019 and CCOHAS ILALA CAMPUS established 2020

Further development was marked in 2021 when the Institute established a state of the art Campus located at Mwanza, Kisesa known as Mwanza City College of Health and allied Sciences (MCCoHAS) which granted a full registration number REG/HAS/232 by the NACTE act, cap 129 read together with regulation 3 of NACTE(Registration of the Technical Institutions Regulations, 2001)(GN NO 279).

Moreover, the MCCoHAS CAMPUS will be offering training in Clinical Medicine, Pharmaceutical sciences and Social work programmes at Certificate and Diploma levels (NTA Level 4 and 5)

All training programs offered by the Institute are competency based, aimed at equipping trainees with requisite professional knowledge, skills and competence in their areas of specialization. They also focus on demands of the larger community which is key stakeholder and macro target for service offered by our graduates

KAPs foundation Ltd is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which has established Training Institute which is known as KAPs Community Development Institute. The institute is under National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) which is the body to regulate and coordinate Technical education in the country; KAPs Community Development Institute graduates are offered relevant to NACTE Awards, known as the National Technical Awards (NTAs). These are competence based and designed to testify that the holders possess the requisite knowledge, Skills and understanding necessary to apply flexibility in the relevant occupation sector. The Institute has developed programs that are in line with NTAs requirement. The purpose is to have in place more efficient and flexible training programmes which are guided by industrial and professional needs as societal expectations. • The payments can be paid in two installments or twice for each semester. Once the fee is paid it is non refundable.

• KAPs Community Development Institute is not responsible for direct costs to students such as meals, stationery, and field allowance. The sponsors are responsible for such Costs.
• For students who will prefer to live in hostel they should pay 800,000 for hostel per year (400,000 per semester). This amount is not included in the fees indicated above.

The Ndanda School of Nursing, commonly referred to as Chuo cha Nursing Ndanda. Ndanda School Of Nursing is private owned nursing school in Masasi District – Mtwara with registration number (REG/HAS/065).

Ndanda School of Nursing is part of St Benedict’s Ndanda Referral Hospital. The school provides training for diploma in nursing and midwifery aiming addressing shortage of human resource for health in the country.
Ndanda School of Nursing started in 1930 by Sr. Dr. Thekla Stinnesbeck OSB with four years course for dispenser. During the Second World War in 1939 this school had to be closed.

1945, 18 months course for village Midwives started and in 1950 the Ministry of Health gave permission to commence a 2- years training for Midwives. In 1965 the nursing training center started to offer a three years course for nurse grade B. Since its establishment, the school offered co- education training. In 1970 the two years training in Midwifery was discontinued, from there on, nurses grade B were trained as Midwives. In 1983 a one year pre-Nursing Course was introduced which was discontinued in June 1993. In September 1994 a diploma course in Nursing started.

In 2012 certificate course was integrated. In March 2013, a 2 years upgrading course was established to enrolled nurses through e-learning. Due to changes of nursing curriculum on entry qualifications, certificate course was discontinued in 2017. In September 2018 in-service one year programme awarding diploma in nursing and midwifery was introduced.

Ndanda School of Nursing offers Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery for Pre-service and In-services Students. The college is in position to start a new Programme of Health Laboratory Science at Diploma level. Course duration is three (3) years for all Diploma Programmes

Ordinary Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery (Duration: 3 years, Capacity: 100 Students, Fee: TSH. 2,500,000/=)
Requirements: Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) Passes in non-religious Subjects including two (2) credit “C” Passes in any of Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Engineering Sciences provided one is not less than Pass “D”, a Pass in English Language and Basic Mathematics is an added advantage.

Ordinary Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery (In Service) (Duration: 2 years, Capacity: 60 Students, Fee: TSH. 1,200,000/=)
Requirements: Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Nursing with “D” pass in Biology, Chemistry or Physics (CSEE) for the graduates starting from 2010; OR Graduates before NTAs system should have certificate in Nursing and Midwifery/Public Health Nurse B and at least “D” Pass in any of science subject; AND Work experience of two (2) years and above, Necessary Attachments: Register and License to practice by TNMC, Technician Certificate and Transcript in the related field and Letter of permission from employer.

Mbalizi Polytechnic College(MPC) is a private college owned with crop farmer coffee and other crops Mr Philip T Mwasegile.This farmer has been got a certificate of better farming be the first winner in the rural district of Mbeya and won the second in the region of Mbeya during the exhibition of the feast of the farmers of the region southwest.

The college has full registration with NACTE for REG/SAT/029 and Vocational Education And Training Authority(VETA).

This college was started officially running the torch of freedom on 27/05/2014 led by Rachel Kassanda.
The college has a field area of permanent crops and short-about seventy acre campus also Purchased area of land in the district of Momba about two hundred acres where the objective is to have a thousand acres for practicum for students and production.

This college after it was being built was expected to be a teachers college bearing the name of Upendo Teachers College, but due to the change of environment the college was changed and called Mbalizi Polytechnic College.

Until now the college provides three courses that are certificate in general agriculture, certificate in animal husbandry and certificate in horticulture and field crops all courses are recognized by NACTE but also the college provides courses under VETA.

Due to the existing infrastructure of the college, the college has the capacity to take six hundred students who can enroll here .The goal is that by 2019 the college started a process of being a university.
