Shinyanga region was inaugurated in 1963 from the former Lake Province which was led by Provincial Commissioner.  At its inauguration the region had three rural districts namely Shinyanga, Maswa, Kahama and one town which was known as Shinyanga Township. Provinces were dissolved due to the gradual decline in basic service provision compounded by continuing mismanagement in most local councils. The government abolished the system and replaced it by decentralized system of de-concentration as a result of the Decentralization Act No. 27 of 1972. In this case regional and district directorates were established with powers to prepare and implement development programmes. The region was led by Regional Commissioner who was assisted by Regional Development Director (RDD) under the Prime Minister’s Office. The RDD was assisted by several departmental heads that had both direct link with their parent Ministries and their counterpart in the districts.

This administrative structure had been in place up to 1997 when the Regional Administration was restructured under the Regional Administration Act No. 19 of 1997 which established the current regional administration. Under the regional administration the Regional Commissioner became the head of the Regional Administration assisted by the Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS).

Previously, Shinyanga Region had been divided into 7 Districts namely: Bariadi, Maswa, Shinyanga, Kahama, Bukombe, Meatu, and Kishapu. Except for Shinyanga District, each District has Local Government Authority namely Bariadi District Council, Maswa District Council, Kahama District Council, Bukombe District Council, Meatu District Council and Kishapu District Council. Shinyanga District has two Local Government Authorities – Shinyanga District Council and Shinyanga Municipal Council. According to Government Notice on Establishment of new Administrative Areas, that is Regions and Districts, Shinyanga Region had been divided into new regions namely Shinyanga Region and Simiyu Region. Bukombe was taken to make part of Geita region. In line with the same Government Notice, new Councils were established to form the current Shinyanga region we have. How to Check For SHINYANGA Form Five Selection 2023? Once ready

1. Visit the official TAMISEMI website at www.tamisemi.go.tz.
2. On the TAMISEMI home page, look for the ‘announcement’/”MATANGAZO” tab.
3. Look for NEWS about the form five selection for 2022/2023.
4. When you select the SHINYANGA region, the system will display the SHINYANGA District Councils.
5. Choose the District Council where you studied and completed your secondary school.
6. When you click the name of your secondary school, a list of selected pupils will appear.
7. Verify your name in a comprehensive list and the school you have chosen.

How was the TAMISEMI Form Five Selection 2023 held?

Students who passed their final examinations of the Certificate of Secondary Educationa Examinations (CSEE) from Divisions one to three can choose to join Form Five if they chose to join the advanced level during the fill selform, where students could choose to join Form Five to Form Six or join with colleges based on their performance in Form Examination Results 2022, which were released by the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) in January 2022.
